Year 6

Spring Term 2010

This term year 6 have been inspired to raise money for the victims of the Haiti  earthquake.  First all of year 6 gave an assembly in the style of a TV news report to highlight the difficulties the people of Haiti are having.  Then they organised Haiti day which involved charging children to dress up as a pirate from the film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and making cakes to sell.  All of year 6 were very proud to have raised over £340 for the Haiti earthquake funds.

Year 6 have once again undertaken a joint community art project with Tiverton High school.  This year they are making totem poles in the style of an animal which represents their journey at St John’s.  First, the children spent some time at the High school sketching animals and then transferring their 2D image into a 3D image using clay.
